Sage Electronic Engineering Releases New Version Of Sage EDK Tool
Embedded developers benefit from upgrades in Sage’s integrated development environment.
The Sage EDK is an integrated development environment (IDE) that incorporates every aspect of design into a streamlined, intuitive graphical interface. Optimized for use with AMD processors and chipsets, the Sage EDK encompasses the entire development process including editing, building and debugging. With the Sage EDK, a developer can disassemble code, inspect memory, manage peripherals, view registers, and accomplish much more. Each designer and developer has full control to efficiently inspect and debug the software under development.
The just-released Sage EDK 2.05 introduces welcome new features including:
• Improved Flash Operations
• Binary View Option For Index/Data Pairs
• Additional Virtual Port Views Via Trap Size Choices
Even greater debug viability is achieved when the Sage EDK is paired with the SmartProbe® by Sage, a comprehensive hardware interface for controlling the system under development with zero system overhead. A simple connector is all that’s needed to plug in the automated, configurable Sage SmartProbe® and start enjoying benefits.
Developers, take note: The EDK 2.05 is compatible with version 2.02 of the SmartProbe® firmware. In order to maintain Virtual Port functionality, it’s necessary for the SmartProbe® to be updated as well. The following site provides upgrade and installation instructions:
In addition, the support forums are loaded with usable information, including discussion threads about timely topics, to help developers get the most out of the Sage EDK and the SmartProbe® development tools: http://www.se-
Pairing the SmartProbe® with the Sage EDK 2.05 brings developers the features they need to achieve the success they desire. In a competitive development environment where it’s imperative to create better designs more quickly to get products to market faster, using the right tools makes a big difference.
