-- BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater invites local talent to come out for an open casting call to recruit local singer/dancers for Monty Python’s Spamalot. Auditions will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, October 22, at the Theater.
Herb Strauss Theater is seeking two male ensemble and one female ensemble members, high-school age or older. To audition, performers need to prepare 32 bars of a song, and bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided. Performers should also have a contrasting vocal selection ready if asked, and be prepared to dance. Audition attendees must bring headshot and resume stapled together.
All Herb Strauss Theater productions require two weeks of rehearsals leading up to a show’s opening, including day and evening rehearsals. The roles require performers to attend all performances and two weeks of rehearsals, which start Thursday, December 27. Spamalot performances are 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday evenings, January 11 through February 16, with Wednesday matinees at 2 p.m. January 23 and February 6.
Winner of the 2005 Tony® for Best Musical, Monty Python’s Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table. Featuring a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits and flatulent French people, Spamalot is a little slice of historical lunacy. This musical comedy was lovingly ripped off from the 1975 film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater presents Broadway-caliber talent in an intimate atmosphere. The 160-seat Theater is located at 2200 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Herb Strauss Theater is a non-equity professional regional theater.
