Follow on Google News | Former Scarborough Management Centre students “manage” Three Peaks beating their targetProving their management acumen, a group of former Scarborough Management Centre students successfully tackled the recent Three Peaks Challenge to raise £2163.
By: Hull University Business School The £2163 raised by the team is going to Cardiac Risk in the Young (C.R.Y.), which seeks to raise awareness of cardiac illnesses in the under 35s, where every week at least 12 ‘fit and healthy’ young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Michael himself was a very fit and healthy person, so his death was devastating and unexpected, leaving a big hole in the life of his family and friends. Wayne Davies said of the experience: “The weather was pretty brutal, and we got weather-beaten for most of the way, with the only sunshine of the weekend typically coming out as we finished Snowdon, the third peak. “Ash Evans and I were a little over-enthusiastic after reaching the first peak, Ben Nevis, and made somewhat of a schoolboy error by running all the way down from top to bottom. When we subsequently got off the bus at Scarfell Pike, we could barely bend our knees! “However, we all soldiered on managing to complete the peaks within the allotted 24 hours, raising a total of £2163, somewhat ahead of our target of £2000, so that helped soothe all the aches and pains!” Although the Challenge has now been very successfully completed, the team’s Just Giving page is still available for anyone who’d care to support this vital cause – please see www.justgiving.com/ The question now is will the team make it an annual event and if so, what will they do in 2013?
