Follow on Google News | Updated second edition of "HR Cynics Reader" is publishedThe highly experiential, cynical and sarcastic book on HR is now in its updated second edition, paperback and Kindle
By: Maykit Copywriting Based on his experiences over the years, the book explains the origins of HR, its abuses, the way it has gained dysfunctional momentum - simply because it can! He details some of the signs you see and the resultant pitfalls that can be avoided when you do get "that interview". The book delves into Ed Moss's conviction that many of the loathsome, sometimes deeply mistrustful and often quite facile practices in HR today are very much responsible for the malaise that has struck modern recruitment and employment in the UK. He feels recruitment now firmly seems to take one step forwards and two, if not three, steps backwards on almost a daily basis in terms of both quality and ethics. He concedes that HR people are not all necessarily bad people at all; thankfully, as should be the case, a healthy majority of them are nice, upstanding, fellow workers - just with clipboards permanently attached. He says that it's just soo many are thoroughly dreadful at what they do and sometimes don;t actually realise that they are so. Good at what they can't and don't do. And the actual 'profession' (maybe it's all that vying for the position of the oldest profession in the world that does it – they do have a lot in common!) itself has become a total and expensive waste of space, time and trouble for companies and employees alike. Ed speaks from bitter experience, in fact very bitter experience, having on one occasion been at the receiving end of the most amateurish, dishonest and corrupt HR procedures he had ever encountered in his entire working life. The book is available in both print and e-book format from https://www.amazon.co.uk/ End
