Representatives from the company will be both presenting and conducting a workshop.

Tom Cagley, DCG’s Vice President of Consulting Services, will be presenting on October 31 in the Function Point Analysis Track of the conference. His presentation, “Function Point Counting Apple iPhone Applications,” will discuss the nuances of developing a functional size for mobile apps with components on a handset and in the cloud. Functional size is critical for estimating and portfolio management.

In addition, Sheila Dennis, Senior Management Consultant, and Corbin Cook, Consultant, will be conducting a one-day workshop: Applying Function Point Analysis (FPA) to Emerging Technologies. Designed for those who have completed an IFPUG-certified Function Point Basics course (FP101), the workshop will demonstrate how FPA techniques are applied to a variety of technological environments, including Embedded Applications, Real-time Systems, Process Control Applications, Client/Server Applications, Cloud Computing, SOA, and Middleware.

“ISMA is the foremost conference for those who are serious about the value of Function Point Analysis and promoting its use as an estimation tool,” said Mike Harris, President of DCG and DCG-SMS. “We have helped a number of clients utilize Function Point Analysis to size software deliverables, resulting in quantitative and qualitative data to support better metrics of the software development process. As such, we are excited to participate in ISMA, advancing our own knowledge of FPA, as well as sharing our expertise and experiences.”

The conference brings together leading industry experts, practitioners, and technology vendors to discuss the latest happenings in the field of software metrics.

IFPUG is a non-profit, member-governed organization, aimed at promoting and encouraging the effective management of application software development and maintenance activities through the use of FPA and other software measurement techniques.
