Sept. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Parent Led Reform, a multi-issue parent network, announced today the official launch of Parent Led Reform Jefferson County.

“We are thrilled to add Jefferson County to our growing network of active parental leadership in education reform,” said Karin Piper, Executive Director and founder of Parent Led Reform. “Jeffco parents have a growing concern for the quality of education in their local public schools and the fiscal stewardship of the school district.”

State auditors recently reported that Jeffco Schools has made a deliberate decision to take its reserve funds as low as legally possible, and red-flagged it as one of the most financially at-risk districts in Colorado. Parents are also increasingly concerned about the district’s academic results for their children, specifically remedial rates leaving graduated students unprepared for college.

PLR conducts research, keeps the community informed, and empowers direct parental leadership into the issues.

“Education is a topic close to the heart of many families.” said Karin Piper, Executive Director and founder of Parent Led Reform. “The vision for our organization is to activate parental involvement in every area where decisions regarding our children’s education take place- including school, district and state level. The PLR Jeffco expansion doesn’t just make sense, it’s essential.”
