Common Core Supporters Bow Out Of Parent Information Event

John Ransom with Ransom Notes Radio joins as moderator for Colorado Community Event after Common Core supporters withdraw. Panel of national experts against the standards are confirmed to still participate.

Aug. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Parent Led Reform, a multi-issue organization that projects parental involvement into education reform, is hosting a Common Core community information event Monday August 12th, at the Koelbel Library in Centennial, CO. Initially designed as a debate airing both sides of the issue, the event is now void one opinion as supporters of Common Core Standards have backed out.
Parent Led Reform states they have contacted seven different organizations that support Common Core and even offered to pay for travel, but the response has been the same- no thanks.
“We see the proponents absence and lack of willingness to represent the views of these new government standards as a huge red flag,” says Karin Piper, Colorado mom and founder of Parent Led Reform. “What is it that the supporters are afraid to debate? It is strange that the parents, teachers and communities are supposed to embrace these federal education standards as adopted by the State of Colorado but nobody is willing to answer our questions. But the show must go on. And we are delighted to announce that John Ransom from Ransom Notes Radio will moderate this community event.”
The organizers had planned for CO State School Board Chair Paul Lundeen to moderate the event, but changed direction out of respect for Lundeen’s post.
Ransom is joining a roster of national common core experts that are ready to discuss their opposition to the standards including Jamie Gass (The Pioneer Institute), Shane Vander Hart (Truth In American Education), Joy Pullman (The Heartland Foundation), and Treon Goosen (Colorado Parental Rights Advocate).

“It is unfortunate that common core supporters backed out of the event. It would have been great to have an open dialogue about why they support the standards,” says John Ransom, who is the radio host for Ransom Notes Radio and Editor for TownHallFinance.com. “Too often in America only one side of the argument gets shopped in the marketplace of ideas. We must confront that phenomena if we are ever to resolve our problems and unite.”
Parent Led Reform’s Common Core Community Event will be held at the Koelbel Library in Centennial, Colorado, 7:30-9:00 pm August 12th. The cost of the event is $10 per person and selling out quickly.
