Long® Fence to Provide Temporary Fencing for 2012 Baltimore Grand Prix

Aug. 22, 2012 - PRLog -- Long® Fence, one of the largest residential and commercial fencing contractors on the East Coast, will provide over 36,000 linear feet of temporary fence to the 2012 Baltimore Grand Prix. The Grand Prix of Baltimore is a major motor sports event that will take place in the streets of Baltimore, running from the historic Inner Harbor to Camden Yards on Labor Day weekend, August 31 through September 2, 2012. The event will feature the IZOD IndyCar Series and the American Le Mans Series racing at 180 mph over a 12-turn course in the heart of downtown Baltimore. More than 100,000 spectators enjoyed the 2011 event and the 2012 Grand Prix is expected to be even bigger and better.

Temporary Fence and Barricades Among Four Types of Fence for Safety and Security

Long® Fence will provide 36,000 linear feet of temporary fencing to establish the spectator area for ticketed race fans. Pedestrian barricades will also be implemented for crowd control and safety. White PVC temporary fencing will be used in unrestricted areas that focus more on aesthetic appeal. For additional reasons of safety and security, Long® Fence will also enclose the pedestrian bridge over Light Street with temporary fence and screening.

“Work on this project has already begun and will continue right up to Labor Day weekend,” said Bill Cronin, Commercial Sales Manager of the Long® Fence Odenton, Maryland office. “Twenty-five percent of the track will be constructed in the last six days, so most work on the grandstand fence will be completed during that time. Installation will take place at night, after Orioles and Ravens games, in order for traffic disruptions in downtown Baltimore to remain at a minimum.”
