| ![]() BAM Outsource Impressed by Broadband World LeadersAs the UK moves towards superfast broadband BAM Outsource looks at the world leaders in broadband speed.
By: BAM Outsource Hong Kong is leading the way by far offering customers a staggering 1000Mb connection followed by Chattanooga in Tennessee, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. Even Bristol, Virginia, who came sixth, offered a 250Mb download speed. Managing director of BAM Outsource, Ben Knowles, said, “These are seriously impressive speeds. Although some homes in the UK are able to access 120Mb speeds these still pale in comparison to some of these cities.” So when the UK has access to super-fast broadband what changes does BAM Outsource expect to see? Mr Knowles said, “I think that we’ll see a dramatic shift in the way people watch television. With internet TVs and these incredible speeds everything is going to be on-demand and DVD sales are going to plummet. There will also be fantastic opportunities for businesses with no slow speeds around big offices. More importantly technology companies which rely on specialist equipment and programmes will be able to compete with the rest of the world. This is going to open huge avenues for the general public and businesses.” BAM Outsource is an outsource sales company based in Peterborough that specialises in sales for the telecommunications industry. “We know from the meetings with our clients that they are investing heavily in the upgrades. They’re hopeful that they are going to be able to access more and more of the country, particularly rural areas and offer world class speeds to their customers.” Whilst the UK is nowhere near the bottom of the list it’s clear that the potential is huge. The various schemes are expected to be rolled out between 2014 and 2016. It can’t come soon enough. End
