The iPhone 5-New 4 Inch Retina Screen Set To Be Included

July 13, 2012 - PRLog -- We have already seen a number of major new smartphones launched this year but their is one more release that we are yet to see and it is arguably the biggest of them all.  The new iPhone 5 is set to be launched in the third quarter of the year and is poised to be the best iPhone to date.

For years iPhone customers have wanted their devices to incorporate a larger screen and many internet rumours over the past few months have suggested that the iPhone 5 will be the model to deliver this wish to the public.  New reports from Asia back up these rumours by suggesting that companies that supply component parts to Apple have received massive orders for new 4 inch displays.  Early rumours suggested that we may be treated to a massive 5 inch screen on the new phone but this is highly unlikely.  A key factor in the popularity of the iPhone is the design and the compact dimensions of the model appeal in this area.  A 5 inch screen would potentially lose Apple many customers as the screen size would be simply to large.  Samsung launched the Galaxy Note last year complete with a 5.3 inch screen and one of the criticisms aimed at the model is that it is too large to me practical.  A 4 inch screen is a more likely direction for Apple.  This size is an increase on what previous generations have offered while still being smaller than a host of rival models, allowing the handset to remain as one of the smallest on the market.

When the iPhone 4 was launched one of the most attractive aspects of the model was the superb Retina screen that it incorporated.  The quality of this display was so good that it was actually used again in the 4S model and Apple will be eager to once again utilise the Retina name on the new iPhone 5.  This name came about from the fact that the original screen offered a very high pixel density of 330PPI and the fact that this level of dots per inch is higher than what the eye can detect.  In order for Apple to use this name again a resolution increase will be needed on the larger screen although this should not pose much of an issue.  Rival brands are offering high resolutions such as 1280 x 720 on bigger screens and if Apple offered a similar level on their new 4 inch display we would expect a pixel density similar to what the 4 and 4S models both offered.

Despite the numerous rumours of huge new display we can expect the new iPhone 5 to offer a small increase in size.  This please the millions of existing iPhone users while still enabling the phone to offer the highest pixel density on the market.
