“Bark in the Park” is July 14th at Overpeck Park

Bergen County’s Overpeck Park will host 77 WABC and 95.5 WPLJ for this year’s Bark in the Park on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.

The event features everything a canine and their family could want. There will be music, food and fun for everyone, including our four legged friends, with dog contests, pet exhibits, demonstrations, and giveaways.

This event will be hosted by Mark Levin with special guests Geraldo Rivera, Bill Evans and Mark Simone.

The North Shore Animal League America and the Bergen County Animal Shelter will be in attendance to help raise awareness about animals in need and distribute information about pet adoption, volunteering and other ways you can help mankind’s best friend. Both agencies will have air conditioned viewing trailers filled with wonderful dogs available for adoption. Who knows? You may find a new member of the family to take home.

A special feature for this year’s event is the sale of “Dogs Get Cancer Too” a children’s book for kids with cancer and anyone who loves a heartwarming story. For every copy of the book sold, two will be donated to local hospitals. Author, Ann Sheridan, adopted her beloved dog Bimbo from the Bergen County Animal Shelter and wrote this funny and inspirational book after they both battled cancer. Ms. Sheridan will be on hand to sign her book and talk about Bimbo’s Buddies®, an organization that offers hope and courage to all pediatric cancer patients by providing free copies of “Dogs Get Cancer Too.”

Bergen County, NJ Area Restaurants You Need to Know About: Outdoor Dining at Natalie's Restaurant in Ridgewood

Ridgewood, New Jersey is the quintessential Bergen County shopping and dining spot. Every block of the downtown area seems to present a variety of interesting shops, boutiques and, of course, many restaurants.

As the weather warms up, outdoor dining is one of Ridgewood's greatest attractions. Natalie's Restaurant is an excellent Ridgewood outdoor dining option.

A longtime Bergen County favorite, this “neighborhood gem” is as appropriate a spot to bring your toddler as it is to propose marriage! Outdoor dining also makes Natalie's an appealing late-spring, early-summer destination for locals.

Food is definitely prepared old world style as Natalie says “when I step into the kitchen, I am still the woman who learned to cook for my family and friends. All I need is a wooden spoon, a sharp knife and a fork. Measurements for me are like being in a cage.”

Using only fresh ingredients, meals are plentiful and purposefully filled with taste. From Filet Mignon Risotto (medallions of filet mignon sautéed with shallots and peas served with “a perfect risotto”) to Chicken Natalie (a sauté of spinach, artichoke hearts, sundried and plum tomatoes with a touch of cream), Natalie brings out the best with an arsenal consisting of wooden spoon, sharp knife, fork, salt and extra virgin olive oil.

Whether you’re seated inside the charming dining room or choose to eat outside, you’ll want to linger after dinner or lunch with your coffee and one of Natalie’s homemade cupcakes.
