Samsung produce a wide variety of products ranging from HD televisions to electrical components.  Their range of Galaxy smartphones however is there most popular line and generates the most profit for the company.  During the first six months of 2012 the company recorded a massive profit of $5.9 billion.  When compared to the same period of 2011 this represents a staggering 79 percent increase.  Much of this success can be attributed to smartphone models like the S3, S2 and the Galaxy Note.  With Apple prolonging the launch of the new iPhone 5 it looks as though this success may extend into the third quarter with experts predicting a 36% year on year increase during this period.  Much of this will be generated by the relatively unchallenged Galaxy S3.  Smartphone sales account for over 70 per cent of Samsung's profits and a massive 50 million devices were sold during the second quarter of the year.  With the Galaxy S3 expected to top the 19 million mark by the end of quarter 3 it looks as though Samsung's healthy year is set to continue.
