June 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Georgetown, S.C. -- Grocery shopping is fraught with stress, thanks to soaring food prices and aisles thronged with vacationers. Toss in the challenge of picking foods with a healthy balance of carbs, fiber and fat, and it’s enough to send us straight to the Good Humor Bars.

Take the free Supermarket Tours led by Georgetown Hospital System dietitians instead. The hour-long tours are planned for Pawleys Island, Garden City and Georgetown in July and August.

The Pawleys Island Food Lion tour is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Food Lion on Highway 17.

The Garden City tour will take place at noon Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Kroger on 2939 Highway 17, 29576.

The tour in Georgetown will take place at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Walmart, 1310 North Fraser St., 29440.

Participants will learn how to read labels and ingredients, pick healthy snacks, shop on a budget and how marketing influences our food choices. Space is limited, so contact 843-520-8288 to register.
