Learn how to shop healthy at GHS supermarket tour

GEORGETOWN, S.C. - Jan. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Georgetown, S.C. – We may not be able tocontrol grocery prices, but we can control what we spend, and knowing how to read nutrition labels is the first step in stretching food dollars and making healthier food choices.

To help consumers decipher the numbers and understand what all those words on packaging labels mean, Georgetown Hospital System dietitians are leading a free supermarket tour Feb. 6 in Murrells Inlet.

The tour is set for 4 p.m. at the BI LO, formerly the Piggly Wiggly, at 1610 Highway 17 South. Participants will learn how to read labels and ingredients, pick healthy snacks and shop on a budget and how marketing influences our food choices.

Space is limited, so contact 843-520-8288 to register.
