Georgetown Hospital System recognized for excellence in employee wellness programs

First in S.C. to earn recognition from leading wellness advocate

GEORGETOWN, S.C. - March 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Georgetown Hospital System is the first in the Palmetto State to be recognized for excellence in its employee health programs and practices by a leading advocate for workplace wellness.

The Excellence Recognition, which is from Working Well and Prevention Partners, singles out programs for physical activity, nutrition, tobacco free and culture of wellness. Excellence was defined by achieving modules developed by WorkHealthy AmericaSM, a Prevention Partners program that draws on evidence-based best practices for the workplace.

“We work diligently to provide a wellness environment for our employees,” said GHS VP & Chief Human Resource Officer Jan Harper. “Being an example of health and wellness to the community we serve is of the utmost importance at our health care system.”

Specifically, the recognition cites policies, programs and benefits that support employee health, optimize employee productivity and integrate wellness into daily operations.

“Georgetown Hospital System sets a high bar in establishing a workplace where employees can make healthy choices,” said Meg Molloy, president and CEO of Prevention Partners. “I applaud this great effort and the commitment of their leadership to sustain a culture of wellness.”

Prevention Partners is working with the South Carolina Hospital Association’s Working Well initiative to engage hospital leaders and staff to enhance and sustain employee wellness efforts. These efforts are generously funded through the Duke Endowment.
