Emterra Environmental Innovates with Largest Clean Natural Gas Waste Collection Fleet

June 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Leading Canadian waste management company, Emterra Group, is launching waste collection services for the City of Winnipeg this October – deploying a clean natural gas (CNG) fleet. With no incentives provincially in Manitoba, and no contractual requirement, Emterra Environmental has taken a lead in financing the fleet of clean natural gas vehicles set to assume waste collection in Winnipeg this fall.

The move to a green fleet using CNG vehicles is part of Emterra’s drive to prove that green fleets can be economically viable. Emterra’s Winnipeg fleet of approximately 60 garbage collection vehicles represents the largest CNG waste fleet globally. A pipeline-fed time-fed fuelling station will support waste truck fuelling at Emterra’s facility.

The 5-7 year contract with the City of Winnipeg (commencing October 1) is for the collection of a range of waste materials – residential (including multi-unit buildings) and small business recyclable material, garbage, organic yard waste and bulk items.

The win for Emterra and the City of Winnipeg extends into the community as Emterra is currently seeking to employ hundreds locally to launch the facility. From management positions to driving jobs, the City and surrounding area will benefit from job opportunities Emterra is looking to fill locally.
