8th Annual Maryland Fashion Week Returns Reinvented

June 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Laurel, Maryland – The 8th Annual Maryland Fashion Week (mdFashionWeek) presented by Model and Talent (MAT) Associates will take place August 5 – 12, 2012 for a week long overdose of high fashion. Maryland’s fashion industry has flourished and gained a lot of exposure locally, nationally and internationally catapulting opportunities for designers and talent in the area.

This year Maryland Fashion Week will kick off the week by sponsoring the Push and Pull for Pink Health Fitness Challenge taking place on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at LA Fitness in Largo, MD. Push and Pull for Pink is a breast cancer charitable fundraiser that features celebrities and individuals being challenged to do their maximum amount of pushups and pull ups. Sponsors will make a donation or pledge for a participant or an in kind donation to the Push and Pull for Pink challenge with proceeds being donated to Hopkins Breast Cancer, Inc. For example, a company can sponsor NY Jet Aaron Maybin for $1 per push up and pull up, if Aaron maxes out at 250 pushups and 100 pull ups, the sponsor will donate $350. On Sunday, August 4, 2012 mdFashionWeek’s Industry Workshop will take place at Center for Arts and Media in Laurel, MD. The Industry Workshop will feature several industry professionals discussing Modeling, Public Relations, Branding, Marketing, Digital Media and more.

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 will feature mdFashionWeek LIVE on mdFashionWeek TV with a LIVE set of models, designers and industry professionals discussing fashion and other interesting topics. Friday, August 10, 2012 will be the Networking Social Event taking place at Bobby McKeys Dueling Piano Bar at the National Harbor. This networking event will allow fashionistas, industry and media professionals to mix and mingle in a delightful atmosphere while being social and enjoying the entertainment.

Saturday, August 11, 2012 will feature the Kids Rock Fashion Event and the International Fashion Showcase taking place at the Clarion Hotel in Oxon Hill, MD. mdFashionWeek’s finale, 10th Annual Washington Premier Fashion Showcase will take place on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Colony South Hotel & Conference Center in Clinton, MD. This show will be produced by Joe & Theresa Dyer, the Founders of mdFashionWeek and will feature designers such as Curvysta Jovanna, Joy Houston, George Thompson, Dee’s Couture, Malcolm Barrett, Tamara Joseph, Jacinta Ligon, Linda Mirembe, Laquanda Turner, Mayerly Rodriguez and Afusa Sam will present a tribute to Whitney Houston.
