Beer Festival Announced - Quy - Cambridge

The Village of Stow cum Quy near Cambridge looks set to have a new venue for this years August Bank Holiday Beer Festival

June 12, 2012 - PRLog -- Tyche Inns today announced that its White Swan pub in Stow cum Quy will run this year’s August Bank Holiday Beer Festival.

With a theme of "A Celebration of Regional and International Real Ales" The White Swan will focus on some great beers including both well-known and some new arrivals. Real Ale from Black Bar, Fellows, Lord Conrad, Nethergate, Buntingford and Cambridge Moonshine will feature throughout the 4 day event. Traditional Beers from Woodfordes, Adnams and Oakham will also be available for the duration. A special and welcome "Guest Appearance" will be from the French Beer maker Le-Brewery which has been winning awards all year for its Odo Stout and Mysterious Lady, ales that are brewed the traditional way in the heart of the French countryside.

This year the beer festival will include food prepared by top chef Paul Johnson from his native Jamaica, "The whole event promises to be live and exciting and we are looking forward to combining Great Food, Great Real Ale and Live Music"  said Martin Read who is organising the event.

Live music bands and "open mike" sessions are also being arranged by the team and a further announcement will be made regarding entertainment details nearer the time.
August Bank Holiday brings thousands of visitors to the small and picturesque village of Stow-cum-Quy which is located just to the East of Cambridge. The August Country Fare is extremely popular with both locals and visitors and the Beer Festival will run on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday so all can enjoy the ale, food and music.
Traditionally the Beer Festival takes place at the Quy Mill, Best Western Hotel but this year the beer festival falls right in the middle of other major planned events and so will take place at the White Swan which is located about half a mile away on Main Street

A regular bus service operates but the organisers plan to offer free transport to and from the Local Park & Rides so visitors can get to and from the event on public transport.

Tyche Inns Ltd and The White Swan actively support The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) locally, Regionally and Nationally and always offer a range of well kept Real Ales. The company and the team believe that the quality of real beer and food is a key part of our diverse national heritage and is delighted to see more and more young people switch to real ale over mass produced drinks. There are over 850 breweries now in the UK and their popularity is growing, the Beer festival is a unique way of preserving our culture and introducing more people to the tastes and flavours of fantastic local beers.

Willing volunteers are actively being sought to support and help run the festival, call Martin Read on 01223 811821 for more information.
