12 Year old boy raises £3000 in a bid to change another child’s life!

Funds raised will enable another couple of children to enrol on The Dore programme - a personalised ‘drug free’ exercise programme for dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD.

May 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Billy Tudor, 12, from Blackwood, Caerphilly, has finally reached his fundraising target after working tirelessly with the support of his local Sainsbury’s since 2011 to raise £3,000 to enable other children to go through the Dore programme - a personalised ‘drug free’ exercise programme for dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and other learning difficulties.

Diagnosed at age 6 with dyslexia and dyspraxia, Billy’s life reached a turning point in 2007 when his parents were introduced to the Dore programme and promptly enrolled Billy.

Billy’s Father Mark said that despite his own initial doubts, the programme was absolutely life changing for his son and that: “His ambition was then to make the experience available to other children. He wanted to raise enough money to get another couple of children through the Dore programme”.

With the help of Sainsbury’s and many fundraising events including a non-uniform day at Billy’s school, then Blackwood Primary, and a bag packing session at Sainsbury’s in Pontllanfraith, this dream has become a reality.

Sainsbury’s made Dore their charity of the year after Billy and Mark presented the organisation to them as an option. Billy himself is very pleased with the support he has received from Sainsbury’s in particular Linda Korczynski, Fundraising Organiser, who he describes as: “An amazing lady who deserves a medal”.

Billy has a long list of people he would like to thank including his schools’ Blackwood Primary and Blackwood Comprehensive, his grandparents at Stonehouse Garage and of course Sainsbury’s.

Billy said: “I used to hate school – I lacked confidence and found reading and writing really difficult. The Dore programme gave me new found confidence and has changed my life.  I am proud that with Sainsbury’s support I will be able to give two other children this brilliant opportunity!”

Billy and Linda will be presenting a cheque for £2500 to Trystan Williams Head Teacher at Springfields School and Chair of the Dore Foundation at 12.00pm on Tuesday  29th May at Sainsbury’s, Newbridge Road Industrial Estate, Pontllanfraith, Blackwood, NP12 2AN.

Billy’s Mother Katy said: “As parents we are very proud of him!”
