The company was started by Tom Leach on June 3, 1982 and has grown from Tom and a small crew to 11 people working full-time January through December. Tom Leach Roofing specializes in Old Portland and Historical homes and, in addition to conventional residential business, roofs 3-4 historical homes per year – roughly 100 since the inception of the company.

This milestone is especially significant since many companies in the industry have not weathered the most recent recession. Owner, Aaron Orthmann, says, “One of the reasons we’ve been able to stick around is our reputation and goodwill that we have earned over the years. People have heard of our quality workmanship for 30 years now – and they are confident that in another 30 years we will still be here.” In fact, the company is starting to receive calls from clients whose roofs were done 20-30 years ago. Aaron says, “They remember our work and want us back when their roof needs to be redone years later.”
