Record-breaking Turnout for RealOptions 2012 Walk For Life and 5K Run

God smiled on RealOptions on April 28, 2012 when over 500 walkers, runners, volunteers and supporters gathered at sunny Almaden Lake Park to take part in their Annual Walk For Life and 5K Run.  “There was a wonderful spirit as everyone came with joy and dedication in their hearts for the unborn and their parents,” said Valerie Hill, Executive Director.

Pastor Bob Nolan, delivered a powerful testimony and blessed the crowd for standing in the gap for the unborn.  Over $100,000 was raised to support the life affirming work of RealOptions!  More than 26 church teams from the Bay Area participated.  All participants were inspired to reach a goal of $1200.00 which is what it costs RealOptions to save one life.

Also, present at the event was Bethany Christian Adoption Services, Unplanned Good, and Campus Pregnancy Support Team- a life affirming, compassionate student group from San Jose State University.  Grace Trout, President of Campus Pregnancy Support Team from SJSU said, “Our main goal at school is to promote RealOptions services to students who need help facing an unexpected pregnancy and to rebuild a culture of life on campus.”

Corporate and business sponsors for the event included the retail store C28, Epicurean Group Catering, Fresh Biz Consulting and Design, KLOVE, AirOne, Scrambl’z Restaurant, Xfinity/Comcast, Richard Neff Photography, and Svenhard’s Pastries.

Long time supporters of RealOptions, Becky and Kevin McIntire from Venture Christian Church, were present with their three young children and shared that this was their first Walk For Life event. Becky McIintire said, ” When we were on our way to the event we explained to our three children that they would be walking for the lives of unborn children.”

Bionca walked and found her own healing.  She said,” Life is sacred and redemption and healing from abortion is available.  As women, we are hurting by that event and decision. I’m walking for my child who I never met but will someday in heaven.  There is a purpose and emotion that comes with it and this is a good cause.”

Ruth, a volunteer and mom who dealt with the confusion of an unplanned pregnancy said,”The Walk For Life is a special event, but more important than the “event”  is the mission RealOptions has for women like me and little girls like mine.  This organization needs your support and us ladies, who find ourselves asking should I abort? or shouldn’t I? Say no! Give money to this organized group who is an advocate for us and our children.”
