April 18, 2012 - PRLog -- This spring independent singer-songwriters JD Eicher, Joy Ike, and Kurt Scobie will be making their way through the Northeast with a performance at Springfield’s Bing Arts Center on Tuesday, May 1 at 8 p.m.

With recognition from NPRs’ All Things Considered, Pittsburgh-based artist Joy Ike has earned a reputation as being “a truly compelling act to watch in person, with the ability to create an intimate setting in locations big and small.”  Ike has been voted Pittsburgh City Paper’s Best Singer-Songwriter for four years running and enjoys making music which she categorizes as “soulfolk”. Her music has drawn comparisons to artist such as Corinne Bailey Rae, Fiona Apple, and Regina Spektor.

JD Eicher, a Youngstown, OH-based artist has becoming a music staple in the Northeast, playing Colleges, universities, festivals, fairs, and countless other venues with his band, JD Eicher & The Goodnights. Together they have had the opportunity to open for Coldplay, Rod Stewart, and Bryan Adams. Eicher’s music fits comfortable between pop and folk, with an upbeat acoustic rock sound similar to that of The Script or Keane.

Kurt Scobie, who hails from Atlanta, GA, travels the country extensively, playing Universities, coffeehouses, and traditional venues for audiences of all ages.  With influences such as Matt Kearney and Dave Matthews, and a sound reminiscent to that of Gavin Degraw and Sara Barielles, Scobie’s powerful, percussive piano playing and introspective songwriting have a magnetic effect on his audiences.

When asked about the tour, and playing specifically at Bing Arts Center, Joy Ike is quoted as saying,

We’ve heard great things about Bing Arts Center. We really enjoy playing at venues that support independent art and artists because it gives life to the community. I think attendees will enjoy the show, our songs, and hopefully getting to know us better. We really thrive off meeting new people and sharing our music with others.

The concert takes place on Tuesday, May 1st at 8 p.m. It will be an all-ages event that is FREE and open to the public.  Donations will be accepted. The Bing Arts Center is located at 716 Sumner Avenue in Springfield, Massachusetts. For more information, call (413) 731-9730.
