Single-Origin Ugandan Tea Unavailable On The Western Market - RateTea Explains

April 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Uganda is a country in Africa, located west of Kenya, which is one of the important tea-producing countries of Africa.  Uganda, having a high elevation with relatively cool temperatures and higher rainfall than surrounding regions, has a number of areas suitable for growing tea.  However, tea production is only about 10% of that in neighboring Kenya.

Single-origin Ugandan tea unavailable in Western markets:

Uganda tea reaches the global market primarily through Kenya, where it is blended and exported.  Single-origin Ugandan tea is unavailable in Western countries.  RateTea, which currently lists single-origin tea produced in 25 different countries, including other African countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, and Zimbabwe, was unable to locate even a single example of single-origin Ugandan tea for sale in a western country.

Challenges facing Uganda's tea industry:

Tea cultivation in Uganda faces challenges, including political turmoil both at home and in Kenya, reliance on Kenya for export, and rising temperatures and climate instability associated with global climate change.
