Actel Consulting Participates In The Launch Of HKEx Orion Technology Initiatives

Hong Kong, March 28th, 2012 – Today HKEx unveiled Orion, a transformative programme comprising new platforms and facilities that will further elevate HKEx’s position as a leading global exchange. This multi-million dollar investment is designed to revolutionise HKEx’s core trading platforms, including connectivity networks, a state-of-the-art data centre, and systems providing order matching, market data dissemination and market access services.

Beginning in 2010 and over a three-year span, Actel Consulting is advising HKEx on a next generation Hosting Data Center.

Ryan Wuebbels, Head of Relationship Management for HKEx stated “From initial business planning to network design and implementation, Actel Consulting has provided valuable advisory expertise on HKEx’s Hosting Services initiatives.”

The Hosting Services, to be launched at the end of 2012, will allow participants to co-locate their systems next to HKEx’s core platforms to provide access with the lowest possible latency.  The data centre can support up to 1,200 racks with a total power load of 8MW, making it the highest capacity service offered by any exchange in Asia-Pacific.
