Holladay wins contract for Fronius USA improvements

March 23, 2012 - PRLog -- (Portage, Ind.) – Fronius USA, one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturer’s of battery charging systems, welding technology and solar electronics, has chosen Holladay Properties and Holladay Construction Group to provide design and construction services for their new 399,500 sq. ft. headquarters at AmeriPlex at the Port in Portage, Ind.

Fronius announced in June 2011 that it had selected the Randolph building in Portage for its North American Headquarters in a widely attended ceremony, which included a keynote address by Governor Mitch Daniels. Since that time, the street on which the building is located has been rededicated as Fronius Drive and the company went through a rigorous process to select a design and construction services provider for the required building improvements, ultimately selecting Holladay Construction Group as the general contractor and Holladay Properties for the design work.

“We are excited to have signed a design-build contract for the remodeling and improvements to Fronius’ new facility at AmeriPlex Portage,” Scott Trueblood, Sr. Project Manager of Holladay Construction Group said. Trueblood also noted that the programming and design created by Holladay Properties played a significant role in helping to secure the contract.

During the selection process, Holladay’s design team worked relentlessly to lay out the floor plan and assemble a finish scheme to fit Fronius’ requirements. The overall look incorporates the European fabric of Fronius while emphasizing their efficient and capable approach to business. The 20,000 square foot office will feature energy point meeting areas, full glass partitions, abundant natural lighting, LEED sustainable finishes and energy conservation.

“It’s been an interesting project to work on because it’s such a large amount of office so designing a finish scheme and layout that was functional yet visually pleasing has taken a lot of work,” said Melody Reese, project designer for Holladay Properties. “The use of floor to ceiling glass walls on either side of the corridors allows twice as many offices to have natural light and we will be using two different carpet tiles in the corridors to help break up the long, narrow passageways.”

Design work and finish selection is almost complete and construction will begin in April. In addition to the 20,000 square foot office, the project also includes the construction of a welding shop and service center for Fronius’ products. Construction is expected to be completed in September and Fronius will be fully operational by the end of the year.
