Black Tea

Philadelphia - Pennsylvania - US

March 22, 2012 - PRLog -- Keemun is a particular type of black tea named for Qimen county in Anhui province of China.  Historically, this type of tea was only produced in Anhui, but in recent years, teas in the style of Keemun have begun to be produced in a number of other regions, including the neighboring Hubei province as well as Jiangxi province, and even in Taiwan.

These teas, while they share certain characteristics in common with Keemun, have certain distinct characteristics of flavor and aroma, owing to the influence of differing climate and geography on the finished quality of the tea.

Style vs. region: avoiding ontological debates and claims of authenticity:

RateTea, an online community for rating and reviewing teas, in order to avoid an ontological debate about the authenticity of these and other teas produced in the style of one type of tea, but in a different region, has separated out the notion of style from the region in which a tea has been produced.  This clearly identifies which teas are produced in the original region and which are not, while also identifying which teas are made to emulate or exemplify a particular style of tea.

Tea companies selling teas in the style of Keemun but from outside Anhui province include Rishi tea, Upton Tea Imports, and auraTeas.
