By: Sarah M. Pinkowski Live FutureOffice Network Smartcast Starting this year, prepare to begin distributing stacks of information, packaged into concise documents, no more than four pages front and back (eight single-sided) For those involved, plans or insurers – not both, this means cranking it out within seven (7) days for the participants and beneficiaries. As with any policy change, there are many guidelines in place – as well as monetary fines for those who do not adhere. Steps to avoid duplication are taken as well for this policy change, for example if a policy holder resides at a different address than a participant. Because this change takes effect quickly, plans or insurers need to understand the new requirements for group health plans and how to best strategize to prepare for this fast-approaching deadline.
