RateTea Links Pages On Styles (Types or Varieties) Of Tea To Teaviews Categories For Tea Reviews

March 6, 2012 - PRLog -- RateTea, an interactive website where anyone can rate and review teas, has over 150 pages on individual styles of tea.  These styles of tea correspond to what most people call types or varieties of tea, but are separated from the classification of region of production, which RateTea considers separately.  Under each style, individual teas are listed from different brands or tea companies.  The pages connect users both with listings of individual teas, as well as reviews of these teas.

Teaviews, a website with a team of reviewers which publishes reviews of teas, is an older, established, authoritative site in the area of tea reviews.  Although Teaviews is not open to the general public the way RateTea is, the site is well-established and has a longer history than RateTea and Steepster, the two dominant public tea reviewing sites.

The rationale behind linking RateTea to Teaviews:

In order to provide the greatest resource to people viewing the site, RateTea has linked their pages on individual styles of tea to the corresponding pages on Teaviews, when these pages exist.  RateTea also believes that Teaviews offers a complementary approach to a public rating website, and that both approaches are valid, and would like to encourage people to explore both websites.

How linking pages to Teaviews has been carried out:

Because Teaviews and RateTea classify teas differently, RateTea's pages on styles of tea do not always correspond in a clean, one-to-one fashion to pages on Teaviews.  However, when a reasonably close match or closely-related match exists on Teaviews, RateTea has listed this page and linked to it from the most closely corresponding page.

As a general trend, RateTea tends to have a more stringent classification of teas into particular categories than Teaviews and most other sites.  RateTea also separates pure teas from flavored teas; for example, Teaviews lumps together pure black teas with flavored black teas, whereas RateTea treats these as separate categories.  However, even with these differences of classification, there is still a coarse correspondence between the two sites, and they have been linked as best as possible.
