Carolina Music Awards Making Music for Local Charities

O Ent, Inc, producer of the Carolina Music Awards, is spreading the music and the money to local charities. A percentage of ticket sales during the month of February will be donated, in addition to donating a number of tickets to fundraising events.

Feb. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC - The Carolina Music Awards, in its’ fifth year, is planning another sell-out show. Held again this year at the Progress Energy Center’s Fletcher Theater on July 15, 2012, emerging musicians and bands have another great opportunity to mobilize their fan base to win an award. And the fans that love music have a unique opportunity to donate to charity while purchasing tickets.

O Ent, Inc. has added new opportunities to get tickets to the Carolina Music Awards this year by donating VIP tickets to charities such as the Duke Children’s Teddy Bear Ball and the Toast to the Triangle. In addition to providing tickets as auction items, O Ent, Inc. is donating twenty percent of all ticket sales during the month of February to the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.

The Awards Show Network, organized by O Ent, Inc., has held the Carolina Music Awards in Raleigh for the last five years. Drawing from musicians in both North and South Carolina, O Ent, Inc. has taken the concept of having fans vote for their favorite artists one step further. “We firmly believe that in giving emerging musicians a stage to showcase both their musical talent and mobilize their fan base to nominate and vote is an important way for them to connect with their peers and their fan base,” states Omar McCallop, owner of O Ent, Inc., “If they draw the attention of music executives and more fans as a result of their participation, that’s not a bad thing, either.”

Despite a push to move the Carolina Music Awards from Raleigh, McCallop firmly believes the centralized location gives musician’s fan bases the opportunity to come to the show in support of their favorite artist and see whether the musician or band won. Winning an award is more than a popularity contest, although fan voting does contribute to the selection. The other factor includes an evaluation of talent by music industry notables for each genre of music. The award show selection process was designed to reward talented musicians with talent and a strong fan base. McCallop’s charitable giving is an extension of his desire to give back to the community he works with and works in. To purchase tickets, visit the Progress Energy box office or purchase online at TicketMaster.
