The Jewish Collection Celebrates Grand Re-Opening at New Location in March

Family-owned Scottsdale store commemorates move with fun- filled weekend

Jan. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Jewish Collection is moving from its longtime Scottsdale location and will be hosting a grand opening celebration at the new location on March 11. The event will celebrate the move from the Safeway shopping center situated at the northeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard to their new space just across the road at 10820 N. 71st Place, near the northwest corner of Shea and Scottsdale.

On Sunday, March 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., The Jewish Collection invites the public to meet renowned Judaica artist Gary Rosenthal and participate in an interactive fundraiser. Rosenthal will present his recent creations and exclusive Judaica made only for the Jewish Collection at a trunk show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food from the kosher dairy café, Mozart Cafe & Bakery and drawings for 50 free prizes all day Sunday at the store.

“We have been a long standing part of the Jewish community in the Valley and look forward to continuing that tradition in our new location,” said store owner, Nancy Brooks. “This grand opening event not only allows us a way to let everyone know The Jewish Collection is still open, but also gives us the opportunity to  give back.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to show-off their own artistic abilities, working alongside Rosenthal. Those interested may register in advance at The Jewish Collection’s current location or with one of the participating Synagogues or Schools to create their own fused glass mezuzah, Kiddush cup, menorah or Seder plate. Prices for the custom Judaica will range from $30 to $250, with proceeds benefiting a variety of Jewish charities.

The budding artists will make their individual pieces at the event under Rosenthal’s guidance, and their finished work will be available for pick-up a week or two later at The Jewish Collection after it is sent for firing. The Jewish Collection hopes to raise $5,000 for the Jewish Community groups participating in the opening celebrations, including Congregation Beth Israel,  Har Zion congregation, Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center Early Childhood Center and Congregation Or Chadash.

The Jewish Collection is dedicated to contributing to the growth of the Jewish community in the greater Phoenix area. It has sponsored a number of educational events and provided more than $150,000 in financial support to Jewish and secular organizations since 2006, including Jewish day schools, synagogues and both Israeli and secular charities.
