Jan. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- Whether you are concerned about your home security or the security of your retail store or business, it is recommended to contact to your local certified locksmith for a complete security check and assessment. Let’s face it, a house is the largest purchase the average individual makes in his or her lifetime, and besides storing a possessions and memories, it’s a safeguard for family and friends. Below is a list of a few tips to help ensure that your home is safe from unwanted visitors.  Contact a local locksmith company to discuss the below options. If you live in or around Long Beach or Orange County, the Green Locksmith Long Beach team would be happy to speak with you.

1.)   Schedule a “Personal Security Assessment”: While no locksmith company will offer a free visit to your house (or at least no reliable locksmith company), contact a local company and discuss with them different ways that you can go about securing your home. From new locks and window reinforcements to alarm systems and closed circuit television, you can make you home like a mini compound. Any reliable locksmith should be able to give you price quotes for these types of services, discuss exactly what type of procedures will take place and how to go about ensuring your home is safe from unwanted visitors without draining your bank account.

2.)   Change Your Locks: When you move in to a new house, often you have a laundry list of things that need to be done. You have to move your possessions, set up the house, paint, clean, refurbish, etc. etc. etc. Yet one of the first steps should be to contact a locksmith and schedule a time to have someone come and change your locks or rekey your locks. This will ensure that the older owners of you house will not be able to enter. Also, it’s a great way to fix any of the locks that aren’t working to well, are lose or not useable. You don’t want to comprise the security of your home because you didn’t want to spend the time to get the locks changed. It’s very important so don’t forget!

3.)   High Security Locks: Often the doors of our office have what are considered “high security locks”. They are specifically designed to provide maximum protection against any unwanted visitor. Similar to an office, your home is the main doorway to your possessions, family and life. Ensure that the main doors of your house are protected with higher security locks. They might be a tad more expensive but they will provide you the guaranteed security your home deserves.

4.)   Window Lock Reinforcements: There are many ways that you can enter a house; one of the most common is through a window. While they provide fresh air to the rooms and help the house breathe, it’s important to make sure that they are fully closed and closed securely when you leave the house, especially for long periods of time such as a vacation. Most local locksmiths will have the necessary tools to add window reinforcements, especially on first floor windows where entry is more common.

5.)   Alarm Systems and Closed Circuit TV: While none of us live in the White House, or homes are just as important. Look in to investing in a security system or closed circuit TV (CCTV). These will add an extra, final layer of protection against all unwanted visitors. Work with your lock locksmith and security company to set up a complete security system. If someone enters your home unwanted, the system should alert the police and the security company and help will be on its way. Don’t take chances.

While the above list is just a recommendation, following these tips can help completely protect your house from unwanted visitors. Contact a local locksmith company and discuss with them the above options. Be certain your home, your possessions and your family are safe and secure the most important things in your life.
