Matthew Albert – former IB student-paints a bright future for PTIS International School students

On 16 February 2012, the PTIS International School is proud to present Matthew Albert as part of its 2012 Visiting Speakers Series.

Jan. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- MAE RIM, CHIANG MAI - As PTIS prepares its students for success in university and life beyond, questions still remain amongst our students and parents to that lingering question, “What does an IB education mean?”

Matthew’s past International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma education and its relationship to his present day success and lists of achievements (http://www.australiaday.org.au) exemplifies this very question. IB students represent diverse backgrounds and nationalities but share a passion for learning, high achievement and lifelong learning. They also share a commitment to community service and civic engagement to “make a difference” in their local and global community. Matthew embodies this sentiment and puts a human face on its vast possibilities; an important lesson to be shared with our students, faculty and parents.

“The IB focused my mind on the expansive possibilities that academic study could lead to. It gave me a global perspective that has influenced the places where I have traveled, studied and worked ever since,” says Matthew.

Matthew’s lifelong dedication to service began in the IB Diploma Program when he volunteered at a local school for underprivileged children. Two years later, at the age of twenty he co-founded the Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning (SAIL) program to support the Sudanese refugee community with free tutoring, home help and other services. Today SAIL (http://www.sailprogram.org.au) serves more than 1,000 people every week across Australia. Among his many achievements, he was named one of the Ten Most Outstanding Young People of the World for 2005 for his contributions to children, world peace and human rights.

Please join us for the enlightening evening on 16 February at 7:00 pm at the PTIS Auditorium. Admission is free.

The talk is presented by THINK Global School (TGS), which offers students the unique opportunity to study an International Baccalaureate curriculum in 12 international cities over the course of four high school years. It is hosted by PTIS International School (http://ptis.threegeneration.org), a K-12 day and boarding school that teaches the IB Diploma Program to students from more than 35 nations.
