Toy Indusrty analyst Steve Reece predicts new Technology will boost the Toy Industry throughout 2012 and beyond - news from the 2012 UK Toyfair.

Leading Toy Industry Expert, Steve Reece has unveiled his predictions for the Toy Industry at the annual UK Toyfair in London (24th-26th Jan)

“2012 is going to be a reasonably good year for the generally recession resistant UK Toy Industry, especially when compared with other Retail Categories and Industries. Toy companies will still face significant margin pressures, however, from under pressure Retailers who face harsher pressures in other Categories, and who look to their Toy suppliers to provide ‘must have’ products to bring shoppers into store and online”.

“New Technology will be a key feature in the ongoing robustness of the Toy Market, and companies who continue to embrace the opportunities technology brings will continue to future proof their businesses. Technology originated Brands will also continue to play a major part, as we’ve seen from the huge success of Moshi Monsters, virtual worlds create a fantastic platform for Brand Licensing and highly desirable Toys.  All that said, of course, the major established Brands and more traditional entertainment media like Movies and TV will continue to be the backbone of the industry.”

He added “Looking further into the future, the mid term outlook will remain comparatively positive for the Toy Market, with the next big technology wave being smarter, more Interactive TV sets, which will open up massive opportunities for Toy companies, as end Consumers become even more engaged in the world of Entertainment Brands.”
