Dec. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- SouthEastJobs.org.uk aims to assist job seekers with regards to applying to new jobs by releasing some key information detailing what usually happens within the recruitment process.

With jobs and employment being a hot topic recently and unemployment figures increasing, SouthEastJobs.org.uk is hoping to help the country’s jobseekers understand the recruitment process in order to motivate them to keep applying and help them understand what they need to do to have more chance of success.

Each employer will have a slightly different process of employment but SouthEastJobs.org.uk hopes that by helping those looking for a job to understand, they will be better informed when applying for new jobs and know what to expect. Here is an outline of the tips released.

Application deadline – Once the application deadline has been reached, it is unlikely that employers will accept any further applications. This is why it is imperative that you make sure you application is submitted on time. Once the deadline has been reached, all applications will be assessed and usually scored against a list of criteria.

Shortlisting– Once the applications have been scored against a list of criteria for that specific role, a benchmark will usually be set for the minimum score and those which scored above the benchmark will be contacted.

Unsuccessful candidates are notified – Most employers will contact you if you have been unsuccessful, however you will find that there are some employers who don’t. Unfortunately the only thing you can do in this scenario is either contact the company asking for some feedback or accept that you were not successful and move on.

Interviews are arranged – If you are successful and pass the initial selection stage then you will be contacted and invited for an interview. This is usually done via letter but occasionally you will receive a phone call or have a phone interview beforehand.

Candidate is chosen – Once all interviews have taken place, candidates will be notified as to whether they have been successful or not; and if you have been unsuccessful, you may wish to ask for feedback at this stage. The successful candidate will then be asked to provide evidence of referees so they can be contacted to verify the information they have given.

Appointment – Both the employer and employee will organised a suitable start date dependant on satisfactory references. The employer may require additional checks before you commence employment such as a medical but you will be informed of this before starting your job.
