Androscoggin Bank Now Accepting Applications for ABCommunity Grants; Deadline is January 1

Dec. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- LEWISTON, Maine – Dec. 1, 2011 – Androscoggin Bank today announced it is currently accepting applications for the ABCommunity grant program. ABCommunity grants are provided for non-profit organizations that support community activities. Grant applications are reviewed on a bi-annual basis; to be considered in the current review cycle, applications must be received by email or mail by January 1. Applications received after this date will not be considered until July 2012.

ABCommunity will review applications for non-profit organizations in these seven areas:
•Arts: that support creativity and the arts in the community.
•Education: that enhance the educational success of students.
•Environment: that preserve or restore the environment.
•Health: that improve people's physical or emotional health.
•Social Services: that provide services to those who suffer hardship or who have been unable to participate fully in the social and economic life of the community.
•Animal Welfare: that provide services to animals and pets.
•Community Development: that provide services supporting economic community development initiatives.

To be eligible, organizations must provide proof of 501(c) 3 status under the IRS tax codes and have filed a form 990 with the IRS within the last calendar year. Applicants must demonstrate how the requested funds will promote the long-term sustainability of the organization through operational or program enhancements.
