Follow on Google News | Androscoggin Bank Congratulates Recipients of MainStreet Foundation Grants, Benefiting Local At-RiskAndroscoggin Bank today announced the recipients of four Impact Grants as a part of the Bank’s MainStreet Foundation grant program. The Grants awarded total $14,000 and benefit at-risk youth throughout Maine and New England.
Grants were awarded to: • Seeds of Independence, based in Freeport, ME - $5000 grant will fund a 12-week session of the Rebound Program, which pairs teenaged juvenile offenders who have been convicted of a criminal offense with adults from the community for an activity or discussion around anger management, decision-making, effective communication, dispute resolutions and change. • Downtown Education Collaborative, based in Lewiston, ME - $5000 grant will be used to develop a College Access and Success Mentoring Program (C.A.M.P.) which will select and mentor 12-20 at-risk Lewiston middle school students with the goal of developing college aspirations and plans for successful college admission. • Riverview Foundation, based in Topsham, ME - $2500 grant will establish Youth Leadership Training Positions (YLTP) to provide a greater number of at-risk high school youth the chance to solidify gains (education, health, discipline and responsibility) • Big Brothers Big Sisters, based in South Paris, ME - $1500 grant will continue to provide support to eight new Big Brothers, Big Sisters matches that were started with Safe Schools/Healthy Students funds that end on 6/30/12. “As always, we received a number of great submissions from excellent organizations that help protect at-risk youth, and we want to congratulate this cycle’s recipients,” Additional information on guidelines and criteria for submission, including the application form and details regarding past recipients, is available online at http://www.bankoncommunity.org.
