James Synovec, founder and CIO of Aquila Business Services, LLC has many years experience and knowledge in the Information Technology Management and Security industry. Aquila, which was founded in 1984 as a software development and engineering consulting company, evolved into a dynamic managed security services provider. Aquila provides security and compliance consulting, security assessments, penetration testing, Learning Management Systems (LMS), corporate engineering, cyber investigation and forensics, and project management for information technology projects.

He also volunteers his expertise in the position of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Rocky Mountain School of Ministry and Theology. The organization is an educational institution that provides both graduate and undergraduate online programs for individuals worldwide. The schools focus is to provide free education to individuals that reside in third world and developing countries. The situation provides many information security challenges due various languages, political and religious environments, and infrastructure. Aside from the role of CISO he also provides hosting for the LMS, LMS deign, site administration, and technical support for the students.

He also supports federal government agencies by working as a contractor in information system security. Currently he provides for a federal agency his skills as Task Team Lead of Governance and Policy for the Comprehensive Robust Information Security Program. Here he serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidance on computer security for information systems. Previously he was contracting with National Business Center (NBC) of the Department of the Interior (DOI). He was the SME with the Cyber Security Assessment Management (CSAM) system and managed the Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M) process and reduced the identified security vulnerabilities by 85% within 6 months. He also was the Audit Liaison for DOI's largest financial system during various federal audits (FISCAM, FISMA, Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and A-123 reviews). He also served as Security Point of Contact (SPOC) for entire DOI/NBC Enterprise during United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (USCert) briefings for information system vulnerabilities.
