Nov. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- On November 7, 2011, Classic Artists Today, syndicated radio show, celebrates 5 years of being broadcasted by radio affiliates.  The one-hour, weekly show - also know as "The CAT," features the latest songs by "classic" bands and performers in the rock, pop and soul genres.  The show is currently aired over 25 times a week by radio stations located in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

"Over six and one-half years ago, I began researching what happened to many of the classic rock bands that I enjoyed in my youth," states Ray White, managing director of Classic Artists Today, LLC.  "What I discovered was that many of them were not only still performing, but were continuing to put out new music," White added.  With the corporate approach to radio in today's world, these artists - who've sold hundreds of millions of records collectively throughout their careers, were no longer getting airplay.

As a fan of many of the rock, pop and soul musicians of the 1960's, 70's and 80's, I wanted to reconnect since my children had grown and I had more time to devote to my interest in music," White stated.   Contacting local radio stations, WRRW 102.5-FM showed interest in the concept.  White contacted several artists including Jock Bartley of Firefall, Paul Cotton of Poco and Beeb Birtles of the Little River Band, requesting a copy of their latest CD's.  He then contacted record companies requesting the latest music.

"Playing the music led to interview requests and we were off to the races," White said.  John McClung, program director of WRRW started carrying the show and other radio stations showed interest in the show.

Over 85 artists have been interviewed for Classic Artists Today including many in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  In June of 2009, White launched Coool CAT, another syndicated radio show, based on the same concept as CAT, but featuring new music from "classic" soul/r&b/blues and smooth jazz bands and performers.

"We have big plans for the next several years," White stated.  Tapping young adults, children of the Baby Boomers, is a key market we are focusing on for future growth.  White indicated that, "reconnecting brings excitement and pleasure, not only for the fans, but for the artists, too!"  For addtional information visit www.classicartiststoday.com
