Nov. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Editors Nancy and Biff Barnes of Stories To Tell will offer free consultations to authors at the Georgia Family History Expo November 11-12, at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia. Authors can get invaluable help with their writing, editing, book design, and publishing questions.
“Family history books present unique challenges for an author,” said Nancy Barnes, the founder of Stories To Tell, an author services firm. She specializes in helping authors to write and publish memoirs and family histories for commercial or private distribution. Her book Stories to Tell: An Easy Guide to Self Publishing Family History Books and Memoirs provides step-by-step advice to authors.
“Bring us your draft manuscript, finished or unfinished,” says Barnes. “We’ll help you get it into print.”
The Expo will feature nearly 60 classes and demonstrations about family history. Professional genealogists and industry experts from throughout the country teach classes. The cost of early online registration for the event, $95, allows participants to select from a variety of classes being taught throughout the two day Expo ($120 at the door).
“We have something to offer everyone, from those who are just curious about family history to those who are performing genealogy research professionally,” said Expo President Holly Hansen.
The exhibit hall, open 1pm – 8pm Friday and 9am – 5pm Saturday, will feature companies focused on families and family history research. Stories To Tell will be at Booth #28, and will offer free consultations throughout the event.
Nancy and Biff Barnes will teach two classes on Friday: How to Plan and Organize a Family History Book at 6:30 p.m. and Family History Books: Editing, Design and Publishing at 7:50 p.m. Both classes will be in Salon 4.
