PERRIS, Calif. - July 5, 2023 - PRLog -- As Lee Alfred II, an award-winning screenwriter and producer, watched his two young sons create chaos around the house a light flashed on. Why not turn what he saw into a new creative outlet?  The result is a children's picture book series featuring the adventures of Alfred's sons Liam and Landen. The first book, Papa Can Fix It! debuts this month.

It is a story about high-energy, African American boys who are a joy to their parents but love to break toys. Liam crashes his cars. Landen breaks his favorite board game. Liam paints the family dog green. Mom and Dad are frustrated. The boys never worry because they know that when Papa and Nana come to visit, Papa can fix it. But one day their grandfather decides it's time for an important lesson. He tells them, "I can't fix everything you touch." In tears after Papa's warning, the boys are heartbroken. Then they learn that only Nana can fix a broken heart.

It is an easy read for fourth graders.

The Liam and Landen series is something very different for Alfred who began his creative career at MTV, then moved to Avida Entertainment where he optioned his first screenplay Red Hood to Disney. Alfred continued his creative writing with several screenplays.  He wrote the spec screenplay titled Pirates of the Caribbean

Alfred joined academy award winner Forest Whitaker as a creative executive and director of Whitaker's philanthropic division. He co-produced the award-winning documentary Rising from Ashes with Whitaker who narrated the film.

After the birth of his sons, Lee wanted to spend more time with his wife watching them grow up. He has used his two master's degrees to blend his career in entertainment with a new career in education, rising quickly to become principal of a high school program for at-risk youth.  That blend was evident when he was the executive producer of The House Next Door 2, released by Lions Gate in 2021 while serving as a high school principal.

Reflecting on his new book, Alfred says, "Your passion and purpose can change but the creative fire does not. I went from adventure films to the adventures of my kids. The process is the same, the purpose has evolved."

The next Liam and Landen books will hit the market later this year. Boogey-B-Gone, which focuses on dealing with childhood fears, will be published on September 1. My Face Book, which provides a way for children to capture emotions by making faces that show how they are feeling, will be launched in November.
