Oct. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Award winning actor/writer Gregory Blair adds another laurel to his shelf as his script THE SISTERHOOD wins 1st place in this year’s Horror Screenwriting Contest.  Gregory takes this as a resounding nod to the power of the script to scare the pants off people.

“I had this idea for a long time,” says Blair.  “I knew I wanted to do something about a shadow-filled convent with creepy nuns, but I didn’t know what the story would be about.  I let it stew while I worked on other stuff and then came back to it and it was as if the story just flew out of me.”

THE SISTERHOOD tells the tale of a murderess bound for the noose who is given a second chance as a ward in a convent where the mysterious ways of the sisterhood grow darker and more menacing, leading to horrific revelations and deadly consequences.  “It’s a bit of an homage to Edgar Allen Poe and classic Hammer films,” Blair says.

Blair has had several screenplays optioned, two of which are slated for production in the coming year. He has also had stage plays produced as well as poetry and fiction published.  “I think you have to get your stuff out there any way you can,” Blair asserts.  “So even though I’ve optioned and sold scripts, I still put the available ones into contests where I’m eligible since that’s just one more way to potentially get them into the hands of producers with whom you might not otherwise connect.”

Despite also being a busy actor, Blair does not envision himself in any of the lead roles should THE SISTERHOOD get picked up for production “Almost all the lead roles are female,” he explains. “Although,” he then jokes “I would make a very scary nun!”

He’s certainly made a very scary script.
