Intellectual Property Theft Prevented By New Copy Protection Technology –

Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- An enhanced cloud-based security system from a Russian security software firm aims to prevent the theft of intellectual property and breaches of copyright.

It not only prevents people from passing on documents electronically but also prevents the documents being printed. The protection even extends to functions such as ‘print screen’ and automated ‘screen grabbers’ which intellectual property thieves have used in the past to defeat document protection systems.

StarForce Content has been developed by copy protection software specialist StarForce Technologies (www.star-force.com) to protect PDF, PPT, PPTX and HTML files.

StarForce Content makes it possible to prevent unauthorised copying of electronic books, presentations, manuals, educational materials, academic works, research papers, audit reports, training notes, lectures, etc. It is possible to protect either a single file or a batch of files at once.

Secured documents can be distributed on any physical media and over the internet. To view a document the end-user has to enter a serial number that defines his or her rights to access the document content. However, the secured content comes in the form of an all-in-one package that means the end-user does not need to install additional viewing applications to be able to access the document.

Besides document security, the StarForce service offers implementation of a flexible licensing policy (DRM). StarForce clients can define the region where protected documents can be viewed, set the serial number lifetime, expiration date, first activation date, time between activations and more.

All StarForce Content operations for each client are held in individual protected ‘web cabinets’ on the StarForce Content website (www.sfcontent.com) to which the only access is via a secured channel.

Implementing the protection process uses a simple ‘Content Protection Wizard’ interface that prevents any misunderstandings or confusion.
