By: Marielle Johnson Sokolowski At Pinot’s Palette, adult customers sign up for two- or three-hour painting classes, bringing wine and other drinks, snacks—and friends. They depart at the end of the evening with their own 16-inch by 20-inch acrylic painting on stretched canvas, having laughed and sipped their way through a real, live (and very fun) art class--or as some call it, “painting party.” “We love throwing parties, and now we get to throw several every week,” say the Burgards, who are Lakewood residents themselves. Initially, they will offer classes several days a week, ultimately expanding to hosting open classes or private parties every day of the week. Pinot’s Palette is staffed by local artists to teach the lively painting classes, which typically attract “Girls’ Night Out” groups, “Date Night” couples, families and both beginning and experienced painters. “We were attracted to the party atmosphere of Pinot’s Palette. Everyone has fun together,” the Burgards say. “We believe Lakewood needs more creativity-based entertainment. And, of course, we’re very excited about the prospect of owning our own business.” Charles Willis, president of Houston-based Pinot’s Palette, agrees: “Lakewood is a fantastic place, with its trendy restaurants and shopping. Pinot’s Palette fits right in with the theater and the botanical gardens—the whole Lakewood atmosphere.” Pinot’s Palette operates two company-owned locations and one franchise in the Houston area and expects to open more franchises nationwide in 2012. It provides full franchise support to its new business owners. “As our first location in the Dallas area, the Burgards’ storefront will open the doors for Pinot’s Palette to make its name as a fun and contributing member of the Dallas community,” adds Craig Ceccanti, CEO of Pinot’s Palette. “We look forward to expanding our concept throughout the Dallas area.” “Stephanie and Chip Burgard are the best,” says Willis. “They’re already involved with the Lakewood community, where they are rearing their wonderful family. We are lucky to add them to the Pinot family.” Pinot’s Palette, Lakewood, is situated in Hillside Village—at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane at Abrams.
