The writer, Stanley Gerson, is an experienced instructor of computer, controls, and technology classes, to groups comprised from millwrights to engineers. “It was a challenge to teach information, not taught in colleges, to groups that ranged so widely in basic skills,” he says. In teaching technology classes, Gerson was careful to explain simple, clear, and understandable information first, before using any terminology or buzz words. “People, generally, have been put in needless awe over these things. I've been there, too. What's been called high tech, maybe, should be called low tech, because, in computers, we've been dealing with very unsmart, non-intuitive machines, that know only 1's and 0's.” says the writer.
