Oct. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- One of the biggest challenges facing HR professionals throughout the UK and Europe is the increasingly difficult nature of talent management. Recent economic uncertainty and the subsequent recession saw budgets in almost all areas of business downsized. Among the disciplines most affected were HR, recruitment and internal staff development. Combined with the growing number of employees seeking new opportunities as the economy improves, ineffective strategies for talent management could see attrition rates soar.

These issues were highlighted by a recent report from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Working with talent management firm DDI, it found that only 38 per cent of UK business leaders and HR staff rate their current leadership development programmes as being effective. Furthermore, just a third of respondents described the quality of leadership as "high" within their company. Almost a quarter of HR professionals surveyed said staff development schemes in their organisation were utterly ineffective.
