Hatherleigh Care Village celebrates National Grandparents' Day

Sept. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Staff and residents at the award-winning Hatherleigh Care Village are looking forward to welcoming relatives as they celebrate National Grandparents Day.

National Grandparents Day is a day to celebrate grandparents and was first started in the United Kingdom in 1990 by Age Concern.

Relatives of residents at the £10 million development in Devon have been invited to spend the day with their grandparents on October 2nd and take part in many fun activities. Local schools are also getting involved, contributing to an art competition to win some top arty prizes!

Throughout the day residents and their families can enjoy colouring, games, watching movies and just enjoying each other’s company.

A Grandparents Day lunch will also be on offer by the award-winning chefs at the home.

Care Village Manager, Lesley Cole, told us: “This is the first year we will be celebrating Grandparents Day but we are hoping it won’t be our last.

“Grandparents should be remembered and thought of as they have a lot to teach the younger generations and are great fun to be around.

“I think it will be great for our residents to have fun with their families and taking part in the different activities we have on offer.”
