MX-1000 Iron Has the Ball Goes in One Direction

Sept. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- I had the MX-100 Iron and I was very well pleased with them until I hit the MX-1000. These are unbelievable in that the ball flight is high but still they are longer and straighter than any club that I have ever tried before.

Mizuno has managed to Plasma weld a razor thin Maraging Steel Face to a hollow stainless steel body. The hollow body makes the MX-1000 with an ultra high MOI and an ultra low COG. This translates into high flying, super long, and ultra straight shots. The beveled sole helps make this possible from even some very funky lies. This is the type of advancement not seen in the "Super Game Improvement" category since the advent of the original "Adams Idea" irons. As a matter of fact, similar to those long lost stalwarts of game saving design, these are somewhat clunky looking. Unlike the Adams Ideas of old, these conduct a lot of feel. I guess they wouldn't bare the Mizuno Moniker if they didn't.

From its look, we can see that MX-1000 may qualify as one of Mizuno's less subdued Discount Golf Gifts, in terms of appearance. If we look closely, we can see that the grey channel in the cavity is textured with tiny Mizuno logos, and the rest of the cavity deviates from the normal blue/yellow combination in favor of black and grey. I'll let you form your own opinion on the esthetic qualities of this club, but I'm not exactly wild about the look of the cavity. Regardless, I'm also a firm believer that the look of the cavity doesn't matter all that much, as you don't see it at address. While the topline of the MX-1000 may be a little thicker than the rest of Mizuno's irons, it certainly doesn't look to be distractingly thick at all, and should set up quite nicely.

As we see, they are a little clunky, and boy are those top lines just a touch on the thick side. Just as some of those chunkier looking Mercedes Sedans can manhandle a high speed corner, and still take a fast jump off a straight line, these chunkier looking Mizuno let we know exactly where they are throughout our swing, and even though their main attraction is their forgiveness--they reward a well struck swing with both distance and feel as a testament to their tour proven tradition.
