Odd Misshit of the TaylorMade Burner XD Iron Set

Oct. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The TaylorMade Burner XD iron set is not pretty on the eye when looking down but the feel and distance makes up for it. I have increased my strike distance by nearly 20yards per club. They are very forgiving with the odd misshit and I am hoping to drop my handicap by another three or for strokes.

The XD iron sets clubheads are built on a 17-4 stainless steel frame, but have a thin titanium face, intended to promote ball speed and thus add distance. Titanium also happens to be lighter than steel, and some of the weight saved by using titanium has been redistributed low and deep in the clubhead to help launch the ball higher. I say some, because these clubs play to a D0 swing weight even with their lightweight shafts. In reality, few people would notice the difference between those two swing weights. And for most people, the lightweight of the clubs would, indeed, increase swing speed.

The first ball I hit with these Discount Golf Gifts was a 145 yard PW that just seemed to fly forever. Normally I hit my PW about 135 in the summer. It’s a little colder now; the ball doesn’t fly quite as well. I put a decent swing on the club, certainly nothing perfect, the ball rocketed off the face, pretty high, landed around 145. Now, that being said, the lofts on the Burner XD irons are jacked up a bit. At 44*, you’re almost playing a 9 iron that has been labeled a PW. The ball did still get way up there though, and stopped very quickly. The trajectory was a little lower than I would have expected for all the weight placed behind the ball, but it was manageable. I found that working the ball was not an option unless your idea of working it is to hit a head high duck hook!

The TaylorMade Burner XD irons incorporate the distance-enhancing technologies that have made the Burner driver such a huge success among tour professionals and amateur golfers. The ultra-large clubhead features a thin and fast titanium clubface that delivers exceptionally high COR to promote faster ball speed and more distance. TaylorMade Burner XD's titanium clubface is more than just fast; it's also extremely forgiving thanks to TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology, which is clearly visible on the backside of the clubface. ICT expands the part of the clubface that delivers high ball speed. Between that and the large and stable clubhead, Burner XD is extraordinarily forgiving and easy to hit.

The Burner XD irons feature "Supersized" clubhead and "SuperFast Technology." The first helps make them forgiving and the second is all about distance. Like the r7 CGB Max, these irons are big. They aren't just oversized. They are Supersized. They feature a thick topline like almost all game-improvement irons, as well as a large offset. The soles are advertised as medium width, but they appear fairly wide to http://www.discount-golf-gifts.com/goods-258-TaylorMade+B... me. Still, though I prefer a thinner topline, less offset and a smaller club overall, I quickly adjusted to the look of the Burner XDs.
