Aug. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Haymarket, Va.--Started six years ago and held several times each year, Tranquility Day Spa's Teen Beauty Night helps teach girls ages 12-16 the basics of beauty in a professional environment. Girls visit four stations during the event. At each stop, one of the spa's professional stylists offers hands-on, age-appropriate guidance on how to use various makeup products and care for hair, nails, and skin. The girls also get an opportunity to ask questions. Each Teen Beauty Night is limited to 25 girls to maximize the amount of attention the stylists offer each participant.

"As girls get older, it is important for them to learn the appropriate way to beautify themselves," explained Tranquility Day Spa Co-owner Gloria Harding. "This is the age where it starts to take hold. We want to inspire them to take great care of their hair, nails, and skin, which inspires them to take care of themselves. We encourage the girls not to worry about what everyone else is doing, but rather to worry about what's right for them."
Harding started Teen Beauty Night after a long-time client came to the spa one day and said her daughter needed some beauty tips. "I thought, if she is struggling with this, so are many of my other clients," Harding recalled. Teen Night was born.

Harding and her team further enhance the girls’ experience by adding a charitable element to Teen Night events. At the most recent event, the participants learned that their participation was helping fellow students purchase much-needed school supplies. Tranquility Day Spa donated 20 percent of the Teen Night proceeds to The Life Church in Manassas to go toward the church's Servolution School Supplies charity drive. The Life Church's fundraising effort will distribute backpacks full of school supplies to children in Prince William County.

"We encourage our stylists to have a positive influence on our clients’ lives," Harding said. "Incorporating a charitable cause into Teen Night expands on this, helping the girls feel like they are doing more than just having fun and learning about beauty. They know they are making a positive contribution to their community."
