Max A. Pooch the Recycled Black Lab to Participate In Orphan's of the Storm Pooch Parade!

Pooch will participate in the upcoming annual Pooch Parade held by Orphans of the Storm animal shelter at 9:00 AM on August 20 at Jaycee Park Deerfield, Il. Sanderson has also been asked to speak a few words about why Max A. Pooch finds and retrieves litter.  

According to Sanderson, "Max is a powerful reminder  of the consequences of our actions when we thoughtlessly discard something.  For example, a dicarded plastic bottle becomes  litter and evryone's problem; an abandoned dog suffers needlessly and is pehaps killed."

In 2010 more than 100 dogs along with hundreds of humans participated in the two mile  Pooch Parade. More than $10,000 was raised last year.  

Max A. Pooch was a direct beneficiary of Orphans of the Storm. The Black Labrador retreiver was abandoned at an animal control shelter by his owners. He was rescued from the jaws of death by Orphans, and subsequently recycled (adopted) by Sanderson and his wife..

Orphans of the storm was founded in 1928 in Lincolnshire, iL  Today, it is one of the country's oldest and largest animal shelters.

Jackie Borchew, Orphans Director of  Development said, "We offer refuge and rehabilitation, and find warm and loving adoptive homes for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs and cats every year. "  

When Sanderson appears at events with Max A. Pooch he dicusses the three Rs... Reusing, Repurposing and Recycling. He uses Max as an example. Max is a discarded dog that found an opporuntity to be reused. Now, he has a new purpose in life and helps find and recycle cans and bottle.
